In Doha: PM Modi Praises India's Growth Rate
In Doha: India Prime Minister
Narendra Modi meet a group of expat Indians in Doha this evening on his 5-nation tour. Earlier today, Qatar and India have signed seven agreements that
including investment and tourism promotion.
- PM Modi said India has faced two consecutive
droughts, reflect a praise worthy 7.9% growth rate.
- According
to one of the agreements, Qatar will invest in India's Infrastructure Fund and National
Investment.
- PM Modi meet a delegation of the Indian community.
- In
Afghanistan, PM Modi inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam,
earlier known as Salma Dam.
- India has poured
more than $1 billion into Afghanistan reconstruction projects and
humanitarian aid.
- Afghan President Ghani has
nurtured closer ties with India in the past year as relations with
Pakistan have deteriorated in the face of continued insurgent attacks
and border tensions.
- Prime Minister Modi will travel to Switzerland on Sunday for a
two-day, where he is likely to seek
support for India's membership to the elite 48-member NSG. He is also likely to raise the issue of black money
stashed by Indian people in Swiss banks.
- Modi will go to Washington on June 6, where Modi will address
the US Congress and hold talks with USA President Obama. He will
also meet business leaders and address the US-India Business Council.
- On June 8, Modi will visit Mexico,
where he will have extensive talks with Mexico President Enrique Pena Nieto on
key bilateral issues and India's membership bid at the NSG.
